Title: Practical skills : Good attachment
Narrator: The fourth key point is about having a good attachment. If your baby attaches well, you can see: her mouth opens as wide as a yawn; her lower lip is flanged out with her chin touching your breast. You can also see more of the upper part of your areola than the lower part. In this way, your baby will then take in the nipple and most of your areola. His tongue will cup around most of the lower part of your areola. When he suckles, his tongue and jaw move down working as a pump and creating a negative pressure which allows breastmilk to flow from the milk ducts into his mouth.
