Prelude to breastfeeding

  • Skin-to-skin contact
  • Gentle breast massage

Practical breastfeeding positions

  • Transitional hold
  • Semi-reclined position

Bringing your baby to the breast

  • Hold baby close with nose pointing to nipple
  • Let baby's head tilt back and chin lead
  • Baby opens mouth wide and takes in nipple & most areola

Expressing milk by hand

Meconium changes to dark brown then yellowish

Color can be yellowish, greenish, or brownish. The texture can be varies as loose, pasty, or soft & seedy.
