Do I need to use contraception after menopause?

A woman reaches menopause when she has missed her periods for 12 consecutive months. The average age of menopause in Hong Kong women is 51. If you have menopause before 50 years old, you should continue your birth control method for 2 years from your last period. If you experience menopause at or after 50 years of age, contraception should be continued for 1 year from your last period. Before menopause, regardless of menstrual interval, all sexually active women who don't want to become pregnant are recommended to use an effective, safe, and appropriate birth control method.
