Healthy feeding of infants and young children (18/12/2013)
The Department of Health (DH) has all along endeavoured to promote and educate parents about the healthy feeding of infants and young children. The DH , the Consumer Council, the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians, The Hong Kong Medical Association and the Hong Kong Breastfeeding Mothers' Association said at a press briefing on December 18 that a healthy diet in early childhood is of great importance to long-term health. Parents' feeding practices also strongly influence children's eating behaviour. Please click here for details.
In addition, the DH advised parents should provide a nutritious diet with a variety of foods, and milk intake should be limited to 360 to 480 ml per day for those above 12 months. Please click here for more information and recommendations on formula milk for young children.
